Welcome

The facility houses an Olympus FluoView FV 300 confocal laser scanning microscope designed for research applications in biology. The confocal is equipped with an argon laser providing excitation light at wavelengths of 458 nm, 488 nm, and 515 nm, as well as green Helium-Neon and red Helium-Neon laser sources with respective excitation wavelengths of 543 nm and 633 nm.

We are located in the Stark Lab in room 590 WIDB.  Use of the confocal microscope must be scheduled at least a day in advance for those who need a representative present for use.  10 hours minimum training is required by a representative before lab technicians may use the confocal microscope without supervision.  Please e-mail us with your questions and concerns, or how we might better facilitate your use of the confocal microscope.

The Confocal facility is supported by Brigham Young University through the Department of Physiology and Developmental Biology under the direction of Dr. Michael Stark. A part-time graduate student technician manages operation of the facility.

The Confocal is now up and running again.
